PCPAC is a variant of PCLinuxOS with additional safety features for public use in Libraries and schools. The intention is to have discussions about distros and scripts. PCPAC – a project describes a method for converting a Linux desktop distribution into a safe, reliable and efficient PAC, a Public Access Computer, for a library, school or waiting room.

It also included Granular StartPoint, which is a HTML-based and acts as a primer to the various major software included in Granular. Granular features a Perl-based script mklivecd which makes it possible to remaster Granular or create a backup CD/DVD out of the installed system. It uses Synaptic Package Manager, a GUI frontend to APT, for package management (installing, updating, or removing packages). The standard CD version of Granular includes two desktop environments – KDE and Enlightenment 17.
